What is Boulder Emergency Squad?

An organization of volunteer rescue professionals who provide technical search, rescue, and other emergency support services to the people of Boulder County and are dedicated to the preservation of life and property.

BES was founded by William R. Hughes in 1963 as a emergency radio club, later the 11-Meter Squad, and then first incorporated as B.E.S. in 1966. B.E.S. is a Colorado member-owned 501.c.3 non-profit entity.

Mission

The volunteer rescue professionals of B.E.S. will deliver safe, high quality, and timely emergency services to the people of Boulder County by:

  • Enhancing the well-being of our members
  • Conducting priority training that improves our skills and capabilities,
  • Establishing agency relationships that promote an optimized response protocol, and
  • Preparing our vehicles and equipment to be in a state of readiness at all times.

 

Goals

  1. SAFETY - Zero injuries, Zero damage.
  2. RESPONSE -  Optimize response times to do the most good for the most people.
  3. TRAINING - Provide engaging training on priority services.
  4. MEMBERS WELL-BEING - Operate with transparency, support individual career preparedness, encourage fitness, provide challenging activities.

Volunteer Emergency Squad donates "Jaws of Life" to Mante, Mexico


Thanks to Andrew Moschetti for spearheading cooperation with Boulder Community Hospital and the Sister City project and for not letting the project drop despite unforeseen setbacks.
